PCB Assembler & Tester

Position:                    PCB Assembler & Tester
Reporting to:             Team Leader PCB Labs
Department / Team:  Production Department – Assembly & Test Team


Overall Purpose of the Job:


The purpose of this role is to support the PCB Team Leader by hand soldering both surface mount and through hole components to the required IPC standard, using high and very high temperature solders. Paying particular attention to workmanship quality and health and safety, and ensuring mistakes are minimised.

The successful candidate will also be required to test assembled PCBs using pre-defined test instructions.


Qualifications / Experience & Qualities Required:

  • Minimum 5 years demonstrable experience in either high or low volume PCB assemblies;
  • Exceptional hand soldering skills required, both SMT and through-hole;
  • Must demonstrate some leadership skills and motivational skills, with a non-authoritarian approach;
  • Must maintain a professional culture at all times within the A&T PCB labs;
  • Commitment to quality and excellence in workmanship standards;
  • Must have the ability to perform in a fast changing and work to challenging and changing deadlines;
  • Pride in work - consistency, accuracy and attention to detail;
  • Must have excellent communication skills;


Principal Responsibilities:

  • Accurate assembly and test of PCBs;
  • Kitting of parts;
  • Liaising with the PCB Team Leader to ensure workload is optimised at all times and build targets are met;
  • Minimising non work related interruptions by ensuring a professional culture within the A&T lab;
  • Ensuring all equipment is functional and maintained in good working order;
  • Seek continuous improvement with regards to quality, productivity and efficiency;
  • Operate in accordance with Guardian procedures at all times;
  • Ensuring health and safety guidelines are met within the A&T PCB labs.

 

Health and Safety:

  • Appropriate PPE will be supplied and must be worn at all times.
  • Comply with the QHSE programme at Guardian at all times.

 

Salary dependant on experience.
